Jasmin Schaitl is an artist and performer with a visual arts background. She graduated in 2012 from the University of Applied Arts, Vienna. Since 2011 she works internationally, as solo-performer, visual artist, artistic director of group performances, leads workshops and interdisciplinary projects, curates and teaches. In 2014 she received the STARTstipendium for performing arts from the Austrian Federal Chancellery Section Art.

Her work in various media broaches the issue of a continuous balancing act between existing juxtapositions e.g.: presence – absence, begin – end, duration – moment, lightness – heaviness. She combines minimalism, reduction, precision and an increase of concentration, within her primarily meditative working methods. Furthermore, her approach and interest to work with time provides space to perceive and be aware of a possible fullness within the emptiness, an appreciation of the unspectacular. It emphasizes the underestimated meaning of beauty within details, through mere dedication on one matter.

Since 2013 she regularly collaborates with artists of various disciplines:
Laura Oriol (FR/US) – butoh/meditation/movement;
Matěj Frank (CZ/PL) –visual art/sculpture;
Elisabeth Schiling (DE) – dance/choreography;
William “Bilwa” Costa (US) – sound/performance/visual.

Jasmin Schaitls work has been supported through several national and international Institutions e.g.: Austrian Federal Chancellery Section Art, various Austrian Cultural Forums worldwide, KAAI Theater Brussels, workspacebrussels, SeMA Nanji Artist Residency Seoul (KR), Ex Teresa de Arte Actual (Mexico), Bludny Kamen (CZ), klub solitaer e.V. (DE), WUK Vienna, Bildrecht GmbH (AT), Tanz*Hotel | Artist at Resort (AT), im_flieger (AT), and others.
